- Software interface and all mechanical controls should be ergonomic and intuitive for an easy, safe and effective usage.
The behavior of the users should be anticipated and appropriate use of the incubator must be stimulated. This applies in particular to three cases:
- Safety: Alarm messages must be absolutely explicit. Whenever possible, the action to be taken should be indicated.
- Prevent inappropriate use: the design of the different part must be coherent with its function and the way it should be used or applied.
- Prevent theft: If some parts are valuable, and if they can be easily unmounted and taken away, they will be stolen at some point...
Potential users and local partners are involved in the project from the very beginning through an approach combining context insight and user-centered design.
